HOUSTON — Finger Furniture has promoted Rodney Finger to president, a post previously held by his father, Robert Finger.
A fourth-generation leader of the 80-year-old Top 100 company, Rodney Finger will guide the business as it consolidates two distribution centers, relocates its corporate office and opens three new full-line stores.

In 11 years with the company, Rodney Finger held management positions in credit and customer service and has been a store manager, bedding buyer, assistant to the president and most recently, chief operating officer and executive vice president.
He serves on the National Home Furnishings Assn. board and is a former chairman of NHFA’s industry technology committee. He’s also a board member of the Houston Furniture Bank, a non-profit organization that collects and distributes home furnishings to people in need.
Finger Furniture has six stores in the Houston area and is No. 34 on Furniture/Today’s survey of Top 100 U.S. furniture stores with estimated sales last year of $258 million.
Earlier this fall, Finger Furniture announced plans to open several 100,000-square-foot stores in Houston by 2016 and up to a dozen Ashley Furniture HomeStores over the next few years.
“Without question, we’ve mapped out the most aggressive growth plan in the history of the company to more than double our business,†Robert Finger said.
In May, the company will consolidate its two warehouse and distribution centers into the first phase of a planned 500,000-square-foot distribution facility in Sugar Land, Texas, capable of housing more than $50 million in inventory. The facility will more than double the number of bays found at the company’s current distribution centers.
“We will house more inventory, move merchandise faster and deliver a better product to our customers with more same-day and next-day delivery,†Rodney Finger said.
Finger also promoted Mike Even to senior vice president of sales and consumer relations. Most recently vice president of sales, Even joined the company in 1983.
