Former John-Richard exec Becker joins Weiman

Weiman Furniture Company, manufacturer of Weiman/Preview contemporary upholstery, has named former John-Richard executive James Becker its new vice president of sales.


Becker spent 15 years as executive vice president of sales & marketing at high-end accessory producer John-Richard.

“Jim is an experienced marketer and leader who will help propel Weiman to the next level as a quality producer of stylish contemporary furniture,” said Carl Philips, president of Weiman Furniture and its parent company, Interlude Home.”As we expand our product line into occasional furniture, accessories and area rugs, Jim will help our team design, merchandise, market and sell these exciting products. Jim will assist us in bringing the right buyers to market, as we regenerate one of America’s greatest upholstery brands.”

Becker brings broad home furnishings experience  to Weiman Furniture, based on his extensive retail merchandising and buying  background at such department stores as Ivey’s and Filene’s, as well as his tenure at The Bradburn Gallery in Atlanta, where he was a founding partner.

During the upcoming High Point Market, Weiman Furniture will unveil its new showroom in the IHFC Design Center. Moving from the 11th to the 10th Floor, Weiman/Preview products will now be presented in D-1031.

In the new showroom, Weiman/Preview upholstery introductions will be featured, including two  new groups from the renowned furniture designer, Vladimir Kagan. He also has designed new occasional tables to complement his sectionals, sofas and chairs.

In celebration of the new showroom, Weiman will host an opening evening party on Monday, Oct. 16, beginning at 5 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Vladimir Kagan, and get a signed copy of his book, “The Complete Kagan.”
