Furniture Assist seeking donations

KENILWORTH: Furniture Assist, an outreach ministry that provides free furniture for those in need, is accepting


donations on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Self Storage Depot, 404 N. 14th St.

to share his story WESTFIELD: On Friday at 7 p.m., Lt. Col. Jay Kopelman will visit the Westfield Memorial Library to share his story of how the Iraq war brought him and his adopted dog, Lava, together. His tale has been publicized in his New York Times best seller, “From Baghdad With Love: A Marine, the War, and a Dog Named Lava”.

health for kids UNION: The YMCA of Eastern Union County’s Five Points branch will join more than 1,500 YMCAs nationwide in celebrating the 16th annual YMCA Healthy Kids Day on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 201 Tucker Ave.

This free event is open to the public and offers kids and families the opportunity to “Put Play in Their Day,” while engaging in creative activities that encourage the adoption of behavior that support a healthy lifestyle.

Activities include fitness games and activities, arts and crafts, healthy snacks, face painting and swimming.

There will be health screenings, HIV testing and counseling, health information workshops for adults and teenagers, giveaways, martial arts presentations, hip-hop aerobics for teens and senior exercise.
