RALEIGH, N.C. — The state attorney general’s office says that some consumers left without furniture after a High Point business closed should file complaints with the state.


So far the state has 21 complaints against Wood Armfield Furniture Co., which went out of business earlier this month.

The company is in the process of filing for bankruptcy, said Noelle Talley with the state attorney general’s office.

State officials recommend that those who paid by credit card should dispute that charge with the credit card company, Talley said.

Those who paid by check or cash should file complaints with the state, Talley said.

There are customers across the country who are trying to get their furniture, officials said.

The store opened in 1939 as a small furniture retailer located in downtown High Point.

As of Wednesday, the company’s Web site was still operating and made no mention of financial problems or closure.
