Furniture Co. Moves Production to Vermont

The Ethan Allen Interiors furniture company is planning to move manufacturing work to its two Vermont plants from a North Carolina facility that is being shut down.


The Connecticut-based company announced Wednesday it was closing a manufacturing plant in Spruce Pine, N.C., and converting an upholstery plant in Oklahoma to a distribution center.

The Spruce Pine plant makes cabinets. That work will be distributed to Ethan Allen’s plants in Beecher Falls and Orleans as well as plants in Maine and North Carolina.Ethan Allen employs about 800 people in Vermont.
