Furniture employee injured by conveyor

MIKE TORRALBA
A worker at a Catawba County furniture plant was injured Tuesday when his arm became caught in a conveyor, the company said.

Dennis Arquiett, a temporary worker at McCreary Modern Inc., was working in the Newton company’s packaging and shipping department in Maiden when he was injured around 12:30 p.m., the company said in a statement.

Company employees freed him quickly, the Newton-based company said. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The hospital would not give a report on his condition.
