MUAR: A furniture factory and a warehouse near Bukit Bakri, here, were razed to the ground by a fire on Monday. 


Damage was estimated at more than RM1mil. 

The fire, which started from Chuan Fook Furniture factory, spread very quickly and reached the Standard Furniture warehouse located about 10m away. 

Muar Fire and Rescue Department chief Shukor Abdullah said a pick-up truck and a forklift in the warehouse were also consumed by flames. 

He said two fire engines with 18 firemen took 30 minutes to control the blaze. 

“The factory was filled with furniture as well as stacks of raw materials, while the warehouse was filled with office furniture so the fire spread rapidly,” he said.
