COLD SPRING – Furniture Fair plans to open its largest area store in Cold Spring, bringing commerce to a shopping center
that’s been missing an anchor since K-Mart closed at the same location several years ago.
“It is the largest Furniture Fair yet,” said Ed Hartman, director of marketing for Furniture Fair.
The company decided to locate in Cold Spring because it’s a fast growing area with attractive demographics, Hartman said.
“Of course Furniture Fair’s roots started with the Erlanger store in 1963,” he said.
The company started by Robert “Bob” Daniels, is now owned and operated by his three sons, Rick, Steve, and Bill Daniels.
There are six Furniture Fair locations in the Cincinnati area, including a Florence store and an Erlanger outlet store. This will be the first location in Campbell County. The company also operates two other area locations under the name Thomasville Stores.
The company has about 480 employees in the area, including about 40 to 50 at the new Cold Spring store.
Features in the new store include a Broyhill Home Furnishings Gallery, an America’s Mattress Bedding Gallery, and a design destination for higher end goods.
“We’re glad that they’re bringing the jobs that they’re going to be bringing to the city as well as, I’m sure, they’ll be very good corporate citizens within our community,” said Cold Spring Mayor Mark Stoeber.
The city was actively involved with the owners of the property to make sure an appropriate tenant was found from a list of retailers the owners were courting, Stoeber said.
“We’re just very, very happy that the building is occupied,” he said.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was scheduled for Wednesday at the store, 3710 Alexandria Pike.
“The day after Thanksgiving was a soft opening,” Hartman said
The official grand opening is Saturday, Dec. 2 with no ceremony, but with some prizes for customers.
Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
