— Furniture Today,
MIRA LOMA, Calif. — Dining furniture and curio cabinet importer GS Furniture said an agreement with its key Chinese supplier will allow customers to order mixed containers and receive quicker shipment.
Dana Steele, GS general manager, said the company will be able to use more than 100,000 square feet of warehouse space at the plant in Tianjian, China.
He declined to name the manufacturer, but said it operates a 1 million-square-foot plant and provides about 65% of GS Furniture’s line.
Under the agreement that started June 1, the China warehouse is stocking all product the Tianjian plant makes for GS. The company is in talks with its other Chinese suppliers to also stock product there, said Steele.
“This is going to cut our lead times substantially on most of our core items,†he said. It took as long as 90 days from order to receipt of shipment in the past, but products from the Tianjian plant will now reach retailers in four weeks — or even faster if a shipment is expedited, he said.
GS Furniture will show in the Pavilion 2 temporary spaces at the next Las Vegas market, July 24-28, and will move to a permanent showroom in the World Market Center’s second building next January.
The company will add to existing lines this summer. It plans a big round of introductions in January, including home office, home entertainment and bedroom.
