Havel, Kok open Czech designer Sipek´s exhibition in Assen

Brussels/Assen,
Netherlands, March 19 (CTK) –
An exhibition of works by significant Czech designer and architect Borek Sipek, a friend of Czech ex-president Vaclav Havel, was opened in Assen in the presence of Havel and former Dutch PM Wim Kok today.

The exhibition is a part of the festival of Czech culture that will start in the Drenthe province in the north of the Netherlands on Tuesday.

The exhibits make up about one-fifth of all of Sipek´s works. His glass objects, design, furniture, dishes and photographs have filled four large rooms of the local museum.

The three-week festival will feature a number of theatre performances, film screenings, concerts, round table debates with Czech writers and an exhibition of photographs.

This is the first similar presentation of the Czech culture in northern Netherlands, initiated mainly by the local museum, Czech Ambassador Petr Kubernat told CTK.
