Huntington to debut imported seating at High Point

Furniture Today,
HIGH POINT — Huntington Furniture Inds., a two-year-old case goods supplier, is expanding into seating with the debut of an imported upholstery program at next week’s market here.

Industry veteran Les Flippo has joined the company as CEO of the newly created upholstery division. Ron Smith, most recently vice president of sales and marketing at Alexvale and previously with Broyhill for 17 years, has been named the division’s president.

Produced in China, the medium-priced upholstery emphasizes quality leather coverings, as well as leather-fabric combinations and all-fabric options. In addition to freestanding looks, some frames correlate with existing case goods collections.

“HFI has been very successful with its case goods program and we will be building on that strength,” Flippo said. “The corporate goal is to develop a full line of home furnishings to include case goods, upholstery and occasional pieces.”

The seating is built on a drop-in coil base with foam coil, and blend down cushioning. “It will be a quality product,” Flippo said.

As with its case goods line, Huntington’s stationary, motion, sectional and sleeper frames are geared to chains and independent stores.

David Miller continues as president of the Huntington case goods division.
