HIGH POINT — Jazz trumpet and flugel horn virtuoso Arturo Sandoval will headline six nights of entertainment at this year’s High Point Market.
Sandoval kicks off the nightly Stars Under the Stars series of concerts and themed events that begin at Showplace on Monday, Oct. 16, sponsored by the High Point Market Authority.
“We think these events are the perfect way to wind up a productive day of business in High Point and we’re looking forward to relaxing with our guests,†said Brian Casey, president of the Market Authority.
On Tuesday night, it’s the NASCAR-themed Night with Childress Vineyards featuring The Rolling Thunder Speedway, a NASCAR show car, contemporary bluegrass artists The Carter Brothers and a complimentary barbecue buffet.
A Southern Style Evening is the theme for Wednesday, with North Carolina native and renowned jazz and blues artist Melva Houston, and a Southern buffet.
Thursday, high-energy dance group The Cookie Band performs, followed by Wally West and his Jazz Quartet on Friday. Skeeter Brandon & The Prime Rib Blues Band wrap up the series on Saturday.
All Stars Under the Stars concerts take place in the Showplace parking area across from the transportation terminal and doors open nightly at 7 p.m.
The Market Authority also will sponsor another series of entertainment called Concerts in the Courtyard at the Suites at Market Square and Market Square.
Local microbreweries will serve seasonal specialties to the funky Sol Creech Band on Wednesday, Oct.18; the beach music of The Embers on Thursday, Cravin’ Melon and Athenaeum on Friday, and the Cookie Band on Saturday.
Food and beverages will be served each night at 6 p.m. with bands taking the stage at 7 p.m.
