NEW YORK — Veteran decorative fabrics executive Burt Kaplan is leaving Portfolio Fabrics,
the converter division of Kravet, where he has been president since 2004.
“I don’t want to work full time,” Kaplan said. “I am looking at consulting or project work after I leave on June 1.”
Kravet, a major player in the high-end decorative fabrics business for furniture, trimmings and floor coverings, will continue to operate Portfolio under the direction of the Kravet family, said Cary Kravet, a company principal.
Portfolio, which targets interior designers, will retain its showroom in High Point, where it is an exhibitor at Showtime.
Before joining Portfolio, Kaplan was a principal in Artisan Home Fashions, a design and marketing company. Earlier, he served in management posts at Cone Jacquards, Richloom and Joan Fabrics.
