HIGH POINT, N.C. — State lawmakers got a preview Sunday of the High Point Furniture Market, which opens to the public Monday.
Twice a year, High Point swells past capacity as tens of thousands of people from all over the world pour in to shop for the latest in home furnishings. It’s an economic boon for the Triad.
Nearly 100 legislators were in town Sunday getting an idea of just how big and important of an event it is to the state.
“This is a proven commodity here and there is competition going on from not only from Las Vegas but from around the world, and so we need to make sure that we keep this industry and this business here in North Carolina,†said Rep. Joe Boylan, R-Moore.
The market runs through Sunday.
