Man Assaulted by Vacuum over Bathroom

Syracuse Police say a man was assaulted by an oak chair and a vacuum cleaner when another house tenant claimed the

bathroom was dirty. After officers found the broken furniture and a dent in the drywall, one man was arrested.

Robert Murfitt, 46, says he was beaten by the appliance, thrown down a flight of stairs and assaulted with a hammer by another tenant in his building on Court Street in Syracuse. Adam Curriere, 29, and Murfitt share a bathroom in the building. Murfitt alleges that Curriere came after him in his room complaining about the cleanliness of the bathroom.

Officers say Murfitt ran out of the room after hitting the wall and hurting his shoulder in order to call the police.

Curriere was arrested and charged with Burglary 1st degree, Assault 2nd degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree.
