Company to continue focus on antique Victorian styling
RANCHO DOMINGUEZ, Calif. — Metal bed producer Elliott’s Designs, which ceased production last fall, has resumed operations in a smaller factory about a mile from its former plant.
President Elliott Jones said the company will continue to focus on beds in antique Victorian styling at middle to upper price points.
“I feel we are the premier supplier of that look,†he said. “And with our powder-coat paint capability, we can offer more custom finishes to the customer.â€
He said about 30 models are available, about 10 fewer than were in the line when production was halted last year. All of the beds are being made domestically, making Elliott’s one of a small handful of domestic metal bed producers.
Citing high insurance and worker’s compensation costs, the company stopped production in November, and Jones sold the 125,000-square-foot building that had been its home since 1983.
Since then, he has purchased a 30,000-square-foot facility about a mile away, and production recently was restarted.
Jones said the company has no plans to open a showroom in High Point, where it exhibited for many years. However, he said he may lease a temporary exhibit space at this summer’s Las Vegas market.
The company’s toll-free phone number is unchanged at (800) 435-5468.Â
