JACKSONVILLE,FL–About two years ago, the Millers purchased furnishings from Rebecca’s Furniture.
“I had no problems with him.” says Lindsey Miller.
That’s what he remembers of his first experience with rebecca’s furniture, however, his second experience is a consumer nightmare.
“I got ripped off,Rick Lawson took my money and ran.” says Miller.
Last December, the Millers signed a contract with Rebecca’s Furniture for nine thousand dollars worth of furnishing.
“We were buying bedroom suites, living room, chaise, we were doing it on layaway and we paid it off.” says Miller.
Miller says he was promised the furniture would be ordered and ready for delivery by the time he moves into his new home.
He moved in April, 2013.
Miller says after closing on his home, he went to the Beach Boulevard Flea Market, that’s where Rebecca’s Furniture did business, to schedule the delivery date and Rebecca’s Furniture was gone.
“I was outraged, no one called, I found out they moved to St.Johns County Flea Market.” says Miller.
Miller says he’s tried to reach the owners of Rebecca’s Furniture.
“His name is Rick Lawson and his partner is Carol Hope.” says Miller.
His calls were not returned.
Firs Coast News staff made calls to Lawson and Hope and our calls were not returned.
The Millers finally moved into their new home, but can’t fully enjoy it because they have no furniture and they’re out nine Thousand Dollars.
“I want the money back, I don’t want anything from them, I can’t trust him at all.” says Miller.
Miller has a meeting scheduled with the State’s Attorney office on Thursday, he expects Lawson to be there.
