Accessories line debuts in High Point
Aiming to give consumers a “totally comprehensive Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams environment,” the home furnishings source is extending its market reach with a new executive position and a new accessories line debuting in High Point this week.
Victoria Amado has joined the company as vice president of accessories development and merchandising. Amado previously was director of design for Gibson Overseas.
In her new position, Amado will be responsible for building business in the accessories, lighting and area rug segments. She reports to Bob Williams, co-founder and president of design, who designs the accessories collection along with his in-house product development team. Amado sources and merchandises the line, recommends designs, prices the collection and brings it to market.
An accessories collection “is the next logical step for us,” Williams says. “It’s the obvious added layer to building our brand and something we have wanted to do for a long time. We want the accessories to complement, not overwhelm, our upholstery and case good designs. Victoria is the perfect person for the job. She shares a similar design aesthetic with us, and understands and knows the business like no one else.”
Mitchell Gold, co-founder and chair-man, says that after launching an extensive case goods and lighting collection last year, “we knew the missing piece to the brand puzzle was an accessories line.
“We want consumers to be able to shop in a totally comprehensive Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams environment. Having our own accessories will round out the picture,” Gold says.
The initial accessories line, based on the personal collections of Gold and Williams, includes ceramics, decorative accessories, area rugs, and a Fine Art Photography Collection by photojournalist Tipper Gore.Â
“I have been following the company since its beginning, and have always been in awe of everything Mitchell and Bob have achieved over the years,” Amado says. “When Mitchell and I worked together at Bloomingdale’s, I knew back then that he would make a tremendous name for himself…whatever he did. When I visited the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams showroom in Los Angeles, I called Mitchell and said I wanted in! I am really excited about being part of the company as they enter this new era.”
