CHICAGO — Showroom building owner Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. has hired real estate finance veteran

Mark Wetzel as senior vice president of finance, reporting to MMPI President Chris Kennedy.

“Mark Wetzel’s REIT experience and familiarity with the many issues facing real estate firms with aggregate properties will be especially beneficial to MMPI,” said Kennedy.

Wetzel most recently was senior vice president and chief accounting officer for Equity Residential, the largest publicly traded apartment company in the United States, and earlier worked for accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.

MMPI owns properties in several cities, including market buildings in High Point and Chicago’s Merchandise Mart.
