100 new furniture-making jobs are coming to southwest Virginia – an announcement that goes


against the trend of recent furniture layoffs and factory closings.

Wellborn Cabinet will open a manufacturing operation at the former Vaughan-Bassett facility in Smyth County. Wellborn is a family-owned business that makes cabinets for kitchens and baths. It is headquartered in Alabama.

In today’s announcement, Govenor Tim Kaine said Virginia successfully competed against four other states for the project.
