MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Longtime industry executive Richard Olmeda has joined accent furniture importer and manufacturer Stein World as president.

Andy Stein remains CEO but has relinquished the title of president.

Olmeda left Magnussen Home Furnishings, where he was executive vice president and had an ownership interest, last November. He traveled and researched employment opportunities while waiting for a noncompete agreement to expire.

He said he is happy to join Stein World, which he said has annual sales of “a tad under” $100 million.

“It’s just a wonderful fit,” he said. “Where they’re positioned and their target market is where I’ve spent the last 34 years.”

Before Magnussen, Olmeda worked for Silver Furniture, Tri Design (an Italian import company he started) and retailer Finger Furniture in Houston.

“Richard’s expertise in setting corporate goals and executing high-level sale strategies make for a winning combination,” said Stein. “Additionally, his years of experience in Asian sourcing, merchandising, product development and demand forecasting insure a seamless path to achieving our corporate goals and, most importantly, timely and product-driven alignment with our strategic retail partners.”
