SOUTHINGTON, Conn. — Pilgrim Furniture City here celebrated the opening of its Grand Interiors section with a private party for 300 guests.
The new area features a series of fully accessorized lifestyle displays, from trendy to traditional. Grand Interiors showcases furniture at higher price points than Pilgrim’s typical midpriced offerings.
Earlier this year, the single-unit retailer added 30,000 square feet of showroom space, bringing its total display area to 54,000 square feet. The $3 million expansion and renovation made Pilgrim Furniture City one of the largest furniture retailers in Connecticut. The showroom entrance incorporates a full-scale façade of a New England-inspired home.
The store includes a carousel, cafe and theater. Including warehouse and other space, Pilgrim’s facility is 160,000 square feet.
The renovation and expansion was designed by Connie Post.
Pilgrim Furniture City is a privately owned and operated business founded in 1961. Mike Albert is president and Steve Bischunsky is vice president.
