Scandinavian Child offers new breast-feeding chair

Raleigh, N.C. — Distributor Scandinavian Child has added to its growing roster of children’s products with the new Monarch Nursery Chair, an ergonomically friendly chair with a design based on research into the needs of breast-feeding women.

Created by U.K.-based Dr. Lynn Jones, a furniture design professor, the chair features a low seat that raises the lap and supports baby, and a gently curved seatback to support the back and shoulders and keep the spine straight and chest forward.

Other key design elements include an angled seat pad to support the back of knees and thighs, an adjustable lumbar support, a seat with flared sides to allow ample room for siblings, and a stable base.

The chair is covered in a wipe-clean fabric called Agua Stretch, which is stain resistant, waterproof, antibacterial and antifungal.

“While the chair was  designed to meet the needs of breastfeeding mothers, the features are extremely beneficial to any parent or caregiver providing bottle feedings,” said Brenda Berg, president of Scandinavian Child. “This chair also provides a great seat for story time and is comfortable for dads too.”

The Monarch Nursery Chair will retail for $750 and   will ship late this month. It is available in 12 colors, including white, latte, chocolate, sage, raspberry, cornflower blue, orange, hot pink, lime, turquoise, grape and navy.

Scandinavian Child will show the chair at the upcoming Juvenile Products Manufacturer’s Show in May.
