Sedona Patio does "the right thing" and delivers couple's furniture

By Gary Harper / 3 On Your Side
There has been a big turn of events since a 3 On Your Side report aired recently.

The story has to do with a Phoenix couple who paid $6,000 cash for patio furniture only to find out that the furniture salesman allegedly ran off with all the money.

Furniture employee skips town with cash deposit

The store, Sedona Patio, refused to either refund the money or come up with the furniture.

But look what happened since my story first aired.

“I love it, yea,” April Ferruccio said. “We have a big Christmas party and we’ve got somewhere to sit, finally.”

Ferruccio is thrilled with her patio furniture, furniture she says she may not have received if it weren’t for 3 On Your Side.

“Thank you, NewsChannel 3. You guys did a great job,” Ferruccio said.

It was only about a week ago when Ferruccio and her fiancé, Jason McClure, told 3 On Your Side how disappointed they were in Sedona Patio.

They went into Sedona Patio and wound up spending $6,000 cash on patio furniture. But little did they know the salesman who took the cash also took off with the cash, never to be seen again.

And Sedona Patio? Well, they claimed they were victims too and were advised by their attorney not to refund the money or come up with the furniture that Ferruccio and McClure ordered.

That meant the couple were out $6,000 cash and had no furniture.

When McClure and Ferruccio turned to 3 On Your Side, you could hear their frustration.

“My perfect world is to get our furniture, but I also want everyone to know that this is the kind of business they do,” Ferruccio said.

But after I got involved, guess what happened.

The night before Thanksgiving, Sedona Patio showed up with a delivery truck with all of the patio furniture that Ferruccio and McClure had ordered.

“We went without our attorney’s wishes, we went against our attorney’s wishes and we decided that it was just the right thing to do,” said Wendy Ruiloba, Sedona Patio Corp. manager. “It was the right thing.”

Way to go, Sedona Patio. Again, Sedona Patio claims it was their attorney telling them not to give in.

But when you look at the big picture, it was just the right thing to do and I appreciate Sedona Patio stepping up.
