Selling furniture for a good cause

Ian Gumbleton among the sofas and chairs
FERRY Project Sofa has opened in March, selling low-cost second hand furniture.

All items, including sofas and chairs, dining room suites, wall units, and bedding, have been donated to the non-profit organisation.

The Ferry Project gives homeless people a new start in life, and volunteers who have been helped by the project are now offering their own helping hand to the organisation.

Ian Gumbleton said the project had been planning this outlet since early last year, moved into its Commercial Road premises last November, and after considerable alterations, opened the store on Friday.

“We are not here to make a profit”, said Mr Gumbleton. “We are here simply to help people and cover our running costs.”

Further discounts are available for people receiving benefits.

Ferry Project Sofa is open from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday and 9am-noon on Saturday. If you would like to make a donation or find out more about the Ferry Project, contact Mr Gumbleton on 01354 658732.
