Fabric hosen from a record 1,505 product entries

One of the new collections in Shuford Mills’ Outdura line of furniture-weight performance fabrics has won the Gold ADEX in the 2012-06 Awards for Design Excellence competition.

Outdura’s Urban Essentials, inspired by 1950s patio cloth, was chosen from a record 1,505 product entries.

John Moses, executive director of the Awards for Design Excellence, said the judges were impressed with Outdura’s Urban Essentials.

One of four new collections for Shuford’s 2014 line of furniture-weight Outdura, Urban Essentials features three patterns: Montage, a layered foliage overall; Tandem, a retro-inspired geometric; and Collage, a textural tweed that uses boucles and multicolored yarns to create an upscale look. Like the other introductions – Colorblocked, The Hamptons and Safari Style – Urban Essentials includes coordinating stripes, jacquards and solids to integrate existing colors and collections.

“We’re very pleased to have one of our new collections selected for the prestigious ADEX award,” said Jeff Jimison, director of sales and marketing for Outdura. “We’re proud of our furniture fabrics, and we’re honored to receive this peer recognition. The industry has really responded to Outdura as manufacturers discover that casual furniture covered in Outdura retains its vibrant color and beauty indoors and out, even when subjected to weather, children and pets.”

Outdura is manufactured and marketed by Shuford Mills, which has been a market leader since 1880. The 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabric is available in furniture weight and marine weight. Outdura is stain-resistant, water-repellant and breathable and, when properly used and maintained, will not fade, mildew or lose strength.Â
