PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — John Thompson has been named to the new position of


national sales manager for the rug division of Safavieh Rug & Home, according to Arash Yaraghi, a company principal.

Before joining Safavieh, Thompson was a southeastern territory manager for Nourison for seven years.

Both Safavieh and Nourison are rug importers. Safavieh added a furniture division in 2012.

Thompson will relocate to company headquarters here and will be responsible for growing the area rug sales team to meet projected growth and expansion.

“We are pleased to have someone with Thompson’s credentials and retail following on board. His mission is to steward our company as we expand and reach out to a broader market of lifestyle customers,” Yaraghi said.

“Our immediate objective is to add to Savavieh’s outstanding sales force with strategic hires in territories that are presently underdeveloped,” Thompson said, adding that the company’s goal is to double sales in four years.
