Linwood Furniture Inc. will open in the former Lexington Furniture Plant 2 in Lexington, where it will manufacture pieces for Lexington Home Brands’ “The World of Bob Timberlake” collection.
The move will add 200 jobs and require the investment of $4.1 million worth of equipment and machinery at the plant, which was closed in September by Lexington Home Brands.
More than 3,700 furniture jobs have been lost in Davidson County since 2000, but Linwood will be the fourth to open or expand operations there recently, according to Steve Googe, executive director of the Davidson County Economic Development Commission.
“We continue to see furniture manufacturers gravitating to the Piedmont Triad Region and Davidson County,” Googe said. “We possess a coveted asset — the skilled furniture worker.”
