Great American to run Kirschman’s sales

Clint Engel –
NEW ORLEANS — Rooms To Go has hired Great American Group to liquidate the four of the five Kirschman’s stores that RTG acquired this month.

Sales will begin within two weeks and run six to eight weeks at Kirschman’s three New Orleans-area stores in Metairie, Gretna, and Covington, La., as

well as at the Baton Rouge, La., store, said Great American President Jeff Yellen.

Kirschman’s Gulfport, Miss., location, also acquired by RTG, is not included in the plan, Yellen said. Jeff Seaman, CEO of Seffner, Fla.-based RTG, which already operates a store in Gulfport, could not be reached.

Yellen wouldn’t say how much money the sales are expected to bring in. The plan though, is to finish quickly, so RTG can convert the stores and have its signs up by September.

Great American also worked with Rooms To Go again last year, when it teamed with the nation’s largest furniture store chain to acquire the bankrupt 51-store Rhodes Furniture. Great American brought in another liquidation specialist, Zimmer-Hester, to help with those closing sales.
