THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A nearly 80-year-old Thomasville furniture outlet is going out of business.
Holton Fine Furniture & Accessories will begin a going-out-of-business sale Thursday. Officials said everything must be sold.
The business was founded in 1927 by J. Henry Holton and a group of 13 shareholders. It was originally located on Salem Street and opened a main showroom on Randolph Street in 1970.
Holton died in 1967 and his son, John, became the general manager and chief executive.
Business officials said Thomasville Furniture announced last week that it would no longer be a major supplier for Holton.
“We regret having to close the store, but we were first and foremost a Thomasville Furniture retailer with a unique retail opportunity less than one mile from the Thomasville headquarters,” said Holton president Tami Hendrix. “Without Thomasville as an integral part of our operation, we made the only decision possible.”
Holton Furniture is closed but will reopen Thursday morning.
