HIGH POINT — Case goods importer Master Design Furniture has moved its sales administration offices to High Point. The six-employee office at 210. E. Lexington Ave. is handling a variety of sales, product development and marketing functions.
Previously those operations were largely handled out of Ontario, Calif., where the company maintains a warehouse. Ontario continues to house regional logistics operations, and will continue to handle some sales functions as well as product procurement.
The High Point office, which opened July 1, will add more sales administration and marketing management staff in the next 60 days and could grow to 15 employees by January 2014, said Joe Elmore, executive vice president of sales and marketing and product development. That will likely include logistical support positions for a planned warehouse in the High Point area.
Elmore said the move made sense because largely because Master Design has a showroom here. He also said High Point area has critical support services such as design houses, finishing operations and photo studios.
While it also has a showroom in Las Vegas, the company wanted to link its corporate identity with High Point.
“We feel that while Las Vegas presents an exciting opportunity to showcase our product and to be in front of a special dealer base, High Point is still central to furniture industry logistics,†Elmore said. “The East Coast is still where 70% of the people (in the United States) live.â€
Elmore said the company plans to open a regional warehouse in the High Point area in the next 60 days, but declined to reveal further details.
