EDINA, Minn. — Gabberts Furniture & Design Studio has hired Daniel Lynch Sales to run an inventory sale at its 90,000-square-foot showroom in the Galleria mall.
The promotion, billed as “the Great $12 million Furniture Sell-Off & Remodeling Sale,†officially began July 14 and should run about five weeks, said Chris Lynch, Daniel Lynch co-CEO.
He would not say how much it’s expected to generate other than that it should equate to 40% to 50% of the store’s annual volume.
“Due to the changes taking place in the furniture industry, we are taking dramatic steps to update our store and reorganize our product selection, emphasizing the updated and stylish home furnishings that are becoming so popular,†Gabberts Chairman and CEO Jim Gabbert said in a press release.
Late last year, Gabberts said it was exiting Texas, where it operated stores in Dallas and Forth Worth, and would reposition its brand in Minneapolis after years of losses. The Texas stores closed this summer after liquidation sales.
The store redesign is expected to include feature such as more clearly defined pathways and “signature areas designed to inspire,†including an Inspiration Center that goes beyond the store’s existing design and resource center; an Illuminations room for everything from lamps and chandeliers to candles and fireplace accessories; and a pillow and textiles salon.
Inventory the store is selling includes goods from Henredon, Century, Stickley, Hancock & Moore, Bernhardt, Hickory Chair and Precedent.
Chris Lynch said the sale got off to a strong start, attracting some 3,000 consumers during the first three days of a private sale and 6,000 people through the first weekend.
