MANCHESTER, Conn. — Bob’s Discount Furniture has promoted Michael Alpert to regional manager for the retailer’s stores in Connecticut and Rhode Island, a new position for the company.


Alpert, who has been with the company since 1996 and has been manager of the Nashua, N.H., store for the past four years, will be responsible for operations and training of personnel at the nine Connecticut stores and future Rhode Island stores.

“I’m looking forward to working with the other regional managers and coordinating the opening of the Bob’s Discount Furniture Rhode Island store in fall 2013,” said Alpert.

Alpert grew up working in his family’s business, Alpert’s Furniture, in Seekonk, Mass. He also worked for WaterBed Quarters, a division of Reliable Stores, Columbia, Md., and returned to Alpert’s as an assistant buyer before joining Bob’s.

Bob’s, a Top 100 company, has 22 stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New Jersey.
