According to Duong, Vietnam earned almost US$700 million from woodwork exports to the US last year and $325 million in the first five months of this year.
Furniture export has become the nation’s third biggest hard currency earner, after textiles and footwear, Duong noted.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese companies are joining their counterparts from other ASEAN member countries to display their products at the second Asian Fair in South Africa that opened on August 3.
The six Vietnamese pavilions show ready-made clothes, footwear and cosmetics, handicraft and porcelain products.
The four-day fair, which has been held annually since 2012, aims to expand trade ties between ASEAN countries and South Africa.
