Fire destroys McMahan’s store in Oregon

Furniture Today,
SALEM, Ore. — A huge fire blew out windows and destroyed McMahan’s 30,000-square-foot store here, which was being liquidated and scheduled to close in November.

Two firefighters were hospitalized after battling the four-alarm blaze, with at least one suffering minor injuries, according to a local television report.

The fire started Thursday morning shortly after two employees had just arrived to open the store. No employees or consumers where injured.

“McMahan’s did not own the building but had been tenant at the location for over 20 years,” said Taylor Ganz, vice president of the 20-store Los Angeles-based Top 100 chain.
