NEW YORK — Billionaire Donald Trump and Lexington Home Brands announced Thursday that they will


introduce a furniture line next year under the Trump brand.

Lexington will develop and market a full line of case goods and upholstery based on the lifestyle of the iconic real estate and television entrepreneur, who has attached his name to several buildings, including hotels and a casino.

The line, to be called Trump Home, will offer “affordable opulence” on par with his apparel and accessories products sold at Macy’s stores for the past two years. A launch date hasn’t been announced, but the collection probably will not be ready for the spring High Point market, officials said.

“Trump Home furniture offers consumers a tangible way to experience the luxurious Trump lifestyle for themselves, in their own home, no matter where they live, and even if they can’t afford millions for one of my properties,” said Trump. “Now the public can not only wear my clothes, they can sit on my couch.”

“While Mr. Trump’s passion continues to be real estate, the huge success of “The Apprentice” (Trump’s NBC-TV show) and now his menswear lines prove that the Trump name resonates with a growing generation of consumers who are eager to emulate his success,” said The Trump Organization’s Cathy Hoffman Glosser, vice president of global licensing.

Trump said he’ll play a part in the furniture design process, lending the collection the sophisticated style that graces his many upscale properties.

Lexington is no stranger to licensed furniture, having developed lines with both corporations (Woolrich, Nautica) and individuals (Bob Timberlake and Arnold Palmer).

Phil Haney, who recently joined Lexington as president and CEO, said, “Trump Home furniture offers far more than an association with a popular star. No name is more synonymous with upscale living than Donald Trump. … His name is emblazoned atop the most beautiful buildings. The interiors and service are exquisite, down to the smallest detail. He added that in the Lexington furniture lineup, “Trump Home fills an important niche at the most glamorous end — upscale with pizzazz and sophistication.”
