Mitchell leaves La-Z-Boy board

— Furniture Today,
MONROE, Mich. — Longtime case goods executive Don Mitchell has stepped down from La-Z-Boy’s board to “pursue another opportunity within the furniture industry,” the company said.

Mitchell, 62, was president of La-Z-Boy’s case goods group until his retirement in 2002. He subsequently rejoined the company as a board member. He had been president of Ladd’s case goods group before its acquisition by La-Z-Boy in 2000, and previously was president of case goods importer Universal.

“Don was a valued member of our board and with his industry experience he was able to provide us with sound advice, and was particularly helpful as we transitioned our case goods business to be primarily an importer, distributor and marketer over the last few years,” said James Johnson, La-Z-Boy board chairman.

He said a search is under way for a new board member.
