A High Point furniture company announced Tuesday that it will shut down.
Rose Furniture Company and Rose Furniture Clearance said chapter 11 bankruptcy will likely be filed. Officials said they stopped taking special orders Tuesday but said they will continue taking customer orders for inventory in stock.
Family owned and operated since 1925, Rose Furniture and Rose Clearance operated three retail locations in High Point.
It?s the latest business closure to leave residents concerned.
“It keeps going on and on and on, because so much of the furniture is imported now,” said Jean Freedle, who owns “The Dog House” restaurant. “And they’re not manufacturing it in North Carolina any more. It’s sad.”
Rose Furniture executives announced the decision to its employees Tuesday morning.
Officials said the company could not “overcome the financial challenges that they have faced as a result of the economic downturn in the retail furniture industry over the past few years.”
