Furniture manufacturing plant damaged

BAY MINETTE – About 700 workers at the Standard Furniture Manufacturing Plant in Bay Minette missed

work Tuesday because of storm damage to the plant.  Plant officials say a fifty to sixty foot section of the roof of a walkway connected to the southwest side of the assembly plant was damaged.

The damage happened Monday night about 8:30.  No one was hurt but company officials wanted to make certain that the facility was safe before sending employees back in to work.  Nightshift workers were scheduled to come to work Tuesday at their normal time.

Standard Furniture Manufacturing is the second largest employer in Baldwin County.
