Furniture Today,
FERDINAND, Ind. — Best Home Furnishings will appear on ABC-TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition†helping a deserving family living just 10 minutes from the manufacturer’s corporate headquarters here.
The episode, set to air at 8 p.m. Eastern time this Sunday, will feature the family of Steve and Shawna Farina. Shawna, 27, is a breast cancer survivor with three children. The Farinas amassed large medical bills during her treatment and had put on hold their plan to fix up the family’s 134-year-old farmhouse.
“As a family-owned and operated company, Best strongly believes in helping our community, and we do so on a regular basis,†said President Brian Lange. “What’s more, we felt very strongly about the cause — a woman fighting breast cancer. We’ve had family members as well as employees diagnosed with cancer, so we know how devastating it can be.â€
Best supplied two sofas and seven chairs, plus pillows, ottomans, footstools and countless yards of fabric for bedding, curtains and a table cover. Employees Eric Vollmer, advertising coordinator, Greg Sicard, national sales manager, and Keith Sherman, truck shop manager, donned blue “Extreme Makeover†shirts and drove a Best Home Furnishings truck to the home.
Sicard said the experience offered a chance to see throngs of people energized to support a needy family.
“ ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ provided Best Home Furnishings with an unforgettable experience and a wonderful chance to give back to our neighbors — but on a much grander scale than usual,†he said.
