Kinky Friedman’s gubernatorial run may be finished, but his office furniture isn’t. Tuesday morning, the campaign offered up all of its furniture for free.


“We’re trying to shut things down by the end of the month. And this is one of the final stages. Giving away the furniture,” said Whitney Duesing, campaign staffer.

The giveaway was open to the public and was supposed to go on until late afternoon. But less than an hour after the giveaway started, the warehouse-worth of file cabinets, desks and couches had been cleared out.

“It was a mad house,” said Donna Hughes, who took away a U-Haul full of stuff.

Former staffers said it was sad to see everything go, but the giveaway meant doing some good.

“We wanted to get rid of all the furniture, but we wanted to do it in a way to help people out who needed help,” Duesing said.
