Zimpapers donates furniture, books

ZIMBABWE Newspapers (1980) Limited last week donated furniture and books for a primary school to be built in

Cherutombo township in Marondera.

The school, to be called Mhungura Primary and the first in the area, received 500 exercise books and 200 textbooks during a ceremony attended by officials from Zimpapers and Mashonaland East provincial education office.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Zimpapers Harare Branch manager Mr Walter Chipwaya said the newspaper publishing and printing company was in favour of building a primary school in the township and gave its full support to the project.

“As Zimpapers we are happy with the new project and we have brought this donation to help the community to boost the educational system.

“It is the duty of the community through the project to make sure that the stationery we have brought is used effectively,” he said.

Mr Chipwaya also said the school should offer practical subjects like woodwork and metalwork to help in repairing broken school furniture rather than sending it to privately owned companies.
