Ashley Furniture HomeStore will open its first Albuquerque location on May 10th at 7912 Pan American Freeway NE (at Interstate 25 and Paseo del Norte).


The 46,000-square-foot store is the 305th location for the company in North America. There are currently Ashley stores in Las Cruces and Portales. It will employ about 100 people full-time at the store and at a distribution center. That number will likely grow to 150 by year end, says Jeff Golner, spokesman for the local franchisee.

Ashley Furniture Industries, based in Arcadia, Wisc., is a private company and one of the nation’s largest furniture manufacturers, according to Hoovers Online. It makes and imports upholstered furniture, as well as leather and hardwood pieces. It has manufacturing plants and distribution centers throughout the country and overseas. Ashley licenses its name to Ashley Furniture HomeStores, which are independently owned and sell only Ashley Furniture-branded products.

The Albuquerque store will have on-site professional interior designers, a cafe and a children’s entertainment area with video games and television programs.
