DEKALB COUNTY — A DeKalb County disabled woman is happy the thief who stole all her belongings has been caught, but now she wants the stolen goods returned.
When Tobias Estes was left partially paralyzed after she suffered a stroke, she asked Carol Simms to move her furniture to a handicap-accessible apartment she was moving into.
Authorities say Simms loaded up Estes and her two kids’ belongings in a U-Haul and disappeared.
Simms was eventually arrested and charged with theft by taking.
Estes’ belongings are still nowhere to be found.
“Somebody out there has my children’s things. I don’t have pictures to remember my children. All that was in that truck,†said Estes.
Estes also isn’t happy with the 3-year probated sentence Simms received.
Simms was also ordered to pay restitution.
