INTERLUDE HOME ACQUIRES WEIMAN/PREVIEW

On April , Interlude Home Inc. announced its acquisition of contemporary upholstered furniture leader Weiman/Preview, formerly a division of Bassett Furniture Inds. Inc.

“We know it’s bold for a company specializing in accessories to buy one that designs and manufactures furniture,” said Carl Phillips, President of Interlude Home. “But the challenges we’ve met in growing Interlude Home have been extremely complex and similar to what we face with Weiman. It’s a very natural, strategic step.”

Bassett Furniture executives are confident about the transition, and plan to focus on the company’s current business and its growth strategies. “We are pleased Interlude Home made this move, and we are confident that Weiman’s strong brand name and dedicated workforce will continue to thrive with this dynamic company,” said Robert H. Spilman Jr., President and CEO of Bassett Furniture. “Our focus is our core Bassett business and growing our Bassett Furniture Direct retail store network.”

As a division of Bassett, Weiman has been an established furniture brand since 1975. It will continue its position as an independent company with it’s own management, design and sales team. Weiman will keep its Christianburg, VA location, as well as its current 65 employees. “To provide the kind of unparalleled service our clients have come to expect, it’s crucial to have a domestic facility,” said Phillips. “We intend to maintain the integrity of Weiman on all fronts. If anything, we’re looking forward toward expansion and creating more jobs.”

With the acquisition of Weiman, Interlude Home will be able to capitalize on paying attention to another aspect of the home furnishings industry, while Weiman will focus on exploring its future potential. “We are looking forward to infusing this great company with new ideas and know-how,” said Scott Coremin, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Weiman. “This is a fantastic marriage of both style and vision.”

Weiman will introduce three new collections at next week’s High Point Market, including 63 contemporary sectionals, sofas and chairs. For more information, visit Weiman’s High Point showroom, located in the IHFC building, space C1103.
