AUSTIN, Texas — Case goods and upholstery importer and manufacturer Four Hands has signed an agreement with designer and Environment Furniture founder Thomas Bina to create a new subsidiary of the company called Bina.

Four Hands will distribute, promote and manufacture the lines in the brand. The product will be created by designers chosen by Bina.

Brett Hatton, founder and CEO of Four Hands, said in a press release that Bina has a visionary talent that combines the art of design with an entrepreneurial spirit.

“I’ve known Thomas since my first year in the business and have followed his amazing career with great admiration. He has not only launched breakthrough collections, but proved to our entire industry how sophisticated ‘conscious’ design can strike a chord with customers across the globe,” Hatton said in the release.

The release said it is Bina’s first business venture outside of Environment Furniture, a Los Angeles-based retailer.

The case goods and upholstery line will hit mid-to-high retail pricing, a Four Hands spokeswoman said.

About 80 Bina pieces will be introduced at the High Point Market in October with a goal of more than 100 pieces by 2017, the company said.

Case goods will feature mostly natural finishes on American white oak and black walnut with exotic reclaimed hardware accents.

Four Hands’ High Point showroom is at Union Square, E-201.
