Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc., reported sales for the month ended April 30, 2013.

Havertys’ April sales decreased 0.7% to $64.7 million, compared with $65.1 million in April 2012. On a comparable-store basis, April sales decreased 2.4%.

Comparable-store sales do not include stores or locations opened, closed or otherwise non-comparable during the last 12 months.

Sales for the first four months of 2013 increased 0.4% to $273.8 million compared with $272.8 million in 2012. On a comparable-store basis, sales decreased 1.0% for the first four months.

“Our written sales orders were off modestly for the first two months of 2013 but have been stronger since that time with March and April combined up by approximately 8% in total. The increases for April occurred in the last two weeks of the month, so we are optimistic about delivered sales volume for May. Comparisons to last year are easier for May as well as for the subsequent three months.”
