Anyone who has ever moved furniture knows the risk of injury and damage to property. And because of these risks,
the Argonaut Group Inc. is introducing a new line of property and casualty insurance for the retail furniture store market.
San Antonio-based Argonaut (NASDAQ: AGII – News) has developed a comprehensive package that includes workers compensation, general liability, earthquake and computer coverage. It will be available in all states expect Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana and Mississippi.
The insurance line also has received an endorsement from the Western Home Furnishing Association as its preferred provider. The association provides industry information and group discount programs and services for furniture stores. It has nearly 1,200 members in 12 western states.
B. Thomas Johns, president of Argonaut’s Select Markets Group, says the company has an established track record of providing property-casualty insurance to independent retailers nationwide.
Adding a line of coverage to the furniture market is a natural extension of Argonaut’s business, he says.
Argonaut is a national underwriter of specialty insurance products in the property and casualty market. It has $3.6 billion in assets.
